Mamelodi Sundowns head coach has labelled the conditions at Buffalo City Stadium as “horrible” after his side scored a last-minute equaliser to steal a point off Chippa United.
Chippa had taken the game to East London after the pitch at Nelson Mandela Stadium was considered not good enough – a questionable decision considering the condition of the pitch Buffalo Stadium.
Antonio van Wyk literally scored with the last kick of the game to secure a 1-1 draw for the African champions, with Cardoso heavily criticising the condition of the venue after full-time.
“This fans, they deserved something different. It’s like you invite them to go home and then you give them nothing to eat. Horrible, horrible conditions to play football,” he said on SuperSportTV.
“I remember that after the World Cup South Africa said that they would reduce the distance from Morocco, but no not with this conditions.
“The distance from Morocco will increase more and more because Morocco understood that conditions to play football, bring better games, increase the level of the players and allows the national team to get better.
“There is a hell of a job for Mr Pitso Mosimane to do in the future, if the best teams to play in these pitches. It’s not proper to play football.
“We made our best, we fought with all the conditions that we have. I think we were committed to take all the three points from here. And for sure in the end were are rewarded but the reward came very late, considering what the boys did during the match.”
