Steve Barker’s Simba SC advanced to the CAF Champions League 2nd preliminary round after hammering Malawi champions Mighty Mukuru Wanderers 6-1.

Simba came into the game with a 1-0 advantage after a win in Malawi a week ago.

The Tanzanian giants knew they had a better chance in the second leg in Tanzania. Just after ninth minute into the game, in-form 35-year-old Clatous Chama opened the scoring to make it 1-0 which increased the lead to 2-0 on aggregate making things tougher for the Malawian side.

Just before half an hour, Simba doubled lead – 2-0 through Senegalese Libasse Gueye, it became clear that they have one foot in the CAFCL 2nd preliminary round. Chama completed his brace in the 34th minute to make it 3-0 and 4-0 on aggregate score. Wanderers pulled one back via a penalty and Isaac Kaliati made no mistake to make it 3-1.

Things became more tougher for Wanderers as Simba made it 4-1 after Gueye completed his brace. Four became five before it became six as the home side sealed their passage with a 7-1 aggregate.

The Red Devils advanced to the second round, and they will face Equatorial Guinea side 15 de Agosto.

The first leg will be played in Equatorial Guinea between the 16th-18th October, and the second leg will be played in Tanzania between 23rd-25th October.
