Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Cedric Kaze has leapt to the defence of striker Ranga Chivaviro, saying he’s not the only player who suffers from low confidence.
Chiefs were crowned Home Of Legends Cup champions after beating Golden Arrows 2-0 in the first semi-final before beating Mamelodi Sundowns 5-4 on penalties in the final.
Chiefs assistant coach Kaze was in charge of the team in the absence of head coach Nasreddine Nabi who underwent operation. Chivaviro has scored three goals this season but has somewhat been a target of the boo boys and is under immense pressure due to chances created but not converted.
In the Home Of Legends semis against Arrows, Chiefs created several chances but only managed to score two goals. Kaze came out to defend Chivaviro, stating that he is not the only player to miss chances, and he believes it is not only him who lacks confidence, but as the technical team, they are working on that.
“The question about Ranga, I won’t elaborate too much because I don’t believe the press conference is about the player,” Kaze told the media.
“But we got a lot of situations, a lot of good ones Ranga included, [Nkosingiphile Ngcobo] Mshini, [Mduduzi] Mdantsane, [Mduduzi] Shabalala one they had at least a chance to score we didn’t.
“It’s true that we need to improve the confidence of everyone, and we are truly working on it.
