Former Pirates Coach Wins Major Award

Former Orlando Pirates coach Josef Zinnbauer was named Coach of the Season in the Botola Pro League after his Invincibles campaign with Raja Club Athletic.

The German tactician, who has an exclusive interview in this week’s iDiski Times digi-paper, took Raja to an unbeaten league title, their first since 2020, beating Kaizer Chiefs-linked Nasreddine Nabi’s ASFAR by just one point.

And he did it in record-breaking fashion, creating a new points-record for Raja, while also conceding the least goals.

Zinnbauer, who is assisted by Fadlu Davids and Darian Wilken, is the first German coach in the club’s history and has only lost one game out of 39 since taking over.

He could still claim the double this season, should his side win the Throne Cup, where they are in the semi-final.

Zinnbauer was honoured for his superb campaign, being named the Coach of the Season at the Botola Pro awards.

Raja winger Yousri Bouzok, who secured the Golden Boot with 14 goals, was named Botola Foreign Player of the Season, while Anas Zniti won the Goalkeeper of the Season award.

The Player of the Season went to ASFAR midfielder Mohamed Rabie Hrimat.
