Amajita head coach Raymond Mdaka has touched on areas of improvement despite their huge margin win over neighbours Botswana in a friendly international this past weekend.
The national men’s U20 side romped to an emphatic 6-0 victory with Cape Town City’s teenage sensation Jody Ah Shene and Kaizer Chiefs starlet Mfundo Vilakazi grabbing braces with Shakeel April and Langelihle Phili also recording their names on the scoresheet.

With the second meeting the two sides scheduled for Tuesday, 25 March, Mdaka is already setting sights on how they can be better ahead of the upcoming U20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which will be staged in Ivory Coast from 26 April to 18 May 2025 with South Africa having been pitted against Nigeria, Egypt, and Morocco.
“The team did well but in certain parts I’d say we played to our opponents’ level,” Mdaka told safa.net.
“We need to be wary of going into the AFCON.”
Amajita and Botswana lock horns again at UJ Soweto Campus tomorrow.
The tie will kick-off at 10am.
