Wydad Athletic Club head coach Rulani Mokwena stood up for himself in a heated press conference after a draw against their fierce rivals Raja Casablanca.
Mokwena has received a lot of criticism in the past few weeks from Wydad supporters despite being in contention for the CAF Champions League spot and currently sitting in the CAF Confederation Cup spot which is third place.
The South African mentor pleaded with the Moroccan media to let him do his job without them questioning his decisions of which player to play, and which style of play to play.
The Red Castle have five games four games remaining in the Botola Pro Inwi and still have the Excellence Cup to play for.
“When I play Bouhra, no Bouhra, when Bouhra doesn’t play, where is Bouhra? I’m the coach so I make the decision but you guys question all the time. I make the decisions, so leave me to make the decisions and die with the decisions. I’m off social media, one of the reasons I went off social media it’s because of the noise,” Mokwena told the media.
“There are five million Wydad supporters, I cannot satisfy five million people I have to do what I believe inside my soul. I have to do what I believe is right because even if we lose the game I have to stand in front of you, I have to stand in front of the players and I have to know I did what was right win or lose.”
