Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Samkelo Zwane says the squad is upbeat ahead of their Nedbank Cup semi-final against Mamelodi Sundowns at Loftus Versfeld.
Sundowns, fresh from qualifying to the semi-finals of the CAF Champions League after a gruelling away trip to Tunisia, where they saw out the tie against Esperance Sportive de Tunis, host Amakhosi in the capital this afternoon.
The league leaders are brimming with confidence, despite their congested schedule and come up against a Chiefs side who are eighth in the league and in dire need of progression to maintain their hopes of silverware in Nassredine Nabi’s debut season at the club.
“We’re feeling positive about our chances,” Zwane told the club’s official website. “We know it’s not going to be easy, but we’re confident that we can make it happen.”
“It’s crucial that we end the season with a strong performance. We’ll give it everything and make the supporters proud.”
His sentiments were echoed by winger Teboho Potsane, who were present at Atlyn Shopping Centre in Atteridgeville on Friday, for a Vodacom and Kaizer Chiefs activation.
“We’re inspired by the nature of the competition,” he said. “We know that reaching the final would be a significant step towards achieving our goals, and we’re focused on giving it our all. We also want to be remembered as a generation that contributed to the trophy cabinet.”
The two sides meet at 18h00 this afternoon in Tshwane.
