Santos Leaves Petro As African Giants Circle

Petro de Luanda has confirmed the exit of head coach Alexandre Santos following the expiry of his contract.

Santos led the Angolan giants to three consecutive Girabola league titles, two Angolan Cups and the Super Cup during his three-year tenure.

Prior to his arrival, Petro had last won the league in 2009 and he’s been credited for the revival of the most-titled club in Angolan football after a period of dominance from Primeiro de Agosto.

The Portuguese coach, 47, has been linked with moves to Kaizer Chiefs, Simba SC and Wydad Athletic Club in recent weeks but has yet to communicate his next move.

Ricardo Chéu of second-tier Portugese outfit Oliveirense will replace his compatriot at Petro on a one-year deal with an option to extend.
