Khanye Predicts Nedbank Cup Final Winner

Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Junior Khanye believes Mamelodi Sundowns will end Jose Riveiro’s unbeaten run on the Nedbank Cup and win this year’s Ke Yona Cup final.

The DStv Premiership champions will battle the defending Nedbank Cup winners in one of the most-anticipated finals in recent years.

The Buccaneers are still unbeaten in the Nedbank Cup under Jose Riveiro, who is yet to suffer defeat after winning nine matches – two after extra-time (vs Kaizer Chiefs & Venda) and one on penalties (vs Dondol Stars), all last season.

Sundowns, meanwhile, have won the Nedbank Cup more often than any other club since it was rebranded in 2008, lifting it four times, and Khanye believes they will add another trophy to their cabinet.

“It’s not going to be an easy game,” he told iDiski Times.

“Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns, these are two big teams in South Africa. Pirates have got individual and exciting players like Maswanganyi, Mofokeng, Mabasa as well.

“And Sundowns have got a whole squad full of quality and with African experience and Champions league experience. They know how to win games and coach and players understand each other. They play to win.

“Also, Pirates got a morale boost after Mofokeng and Maswanganyi were called up to Bafana.

“Pirates will focus on their individuals but Sundowns is going to win the game 1-0 or 2-1.”

When asked which players he believes will step up in the game, Khanye predicted the goal scorers for today’s game.

“Ribeiro is going to score and Shalulile. For Pirates, Mabasa is going to score and the score is 2-1,” he added.
