Zamalek Coach Lands New Job Swiftly After Shock Exit

Jose Gomes has parted ways with Egyptian giants Zamalek after a remarkable period with the side.

Gomes was appointed as Zamalek’s head coach 10 months ago with the hope of reviving the sleeping giant of Egypt.

The Portuguese mentor led the White Knights to qualification for the CAF Confederation Cup and left them sitting top of Group D in the tournament.

Zamalek are currently sitting second in the Egyptian Premier League with nine points after four matches.

“It is with a heavy heart and tears streaming down my face that I write these words,” Gomes said in a heartfelt statement.

“I feel an endless love for the Egyptian people and Zamalek fans, who were instrumental in our victories. But I believe the conditions necessary to continue delivering titles are no longer in place.

“I rejected many lucrative offers because of my love for Zamalek, but I hope the club finds success and stability moving forward.”

He has since been appointed the new head coach of Saudi Pro League side Al Fateh SC to succeed Slaven Bilic.
