Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Junior Khanye believes it is time for the powers that be at the club to have honest conversations about head coach Nasreddine Nabi.
This is after the side’s 1-1 draw away at TS Galaxy in the Betway Premiership on Monday which sees Amakhosi currently on a three-match winless streak following the 2-0 defeat to Polokwane City and a 2-2 draw with Royal AM despite having taken a two-goal first-half lead.
The string of results has seen Chiefs drop to ninth place in the Betway Premiership with 12 points from nine outings, with Khanye believing the Tunisian tactician is already under pressure.
“The boardroom should have been having conversations about Nabi from a while ago,” said Khanye on iDiski TV.
“I mean if you look at the games he has won, [Gaston] Sirino was on top of his game. Yes Sirino was on top of his game, a special player but the overall performance not a lot of people would have noticed who helped when the team won. Was it the opposition’s mistakes or having a special player who can make things happen or did other players raise their hands because of him.
“They should have noticed during the game against [Mamelodi] Sundowns. Yes, Sundowns are on top, but Chiefs played against a poor Sundowns under Manqoba Mngqithi. Yes, Sundowns scored four goals on the day but if Chiefs showed up it would have been a balanced game, but they were poor.

“That’s where they should have questioned him. Forget the Polokwane City game and look at the game against Magesi, look at how he played tactically. A lot of fans celebrated that draw. I have respect for fans and I understand that when you support a team that used to win, that used to have star players you will be like that but they also need to honest.
“I wouldn’t have judged him when he arrived but there are many coaches, unknown coaches who are better than him. As a coach he should have done his research about the Glamour Boys, watch DVDs so he can see the type of players Chiefs need or even the type of football the club should play.
“I know everyone wants results but that won’t be now. I think he was signed to win at least one trophy but it’s a disaster because he’s under pressure now.
“He wants to win desperately, he is always attacking the referee, I mean the Chiefs technical team gets a card in each game because they came here with the mentality that they will win a cup, like they said we must win.
“Unfortunately for me this guy is taking the team to a wrong direction.”
