There is a lot of interest in Bafana Bafana star midfielder Teboho Mokoena, but he was fully focussed on the task at hand with Bafana Bafana before returning to Mamelodi Sundowns, according to his agent Glyn Binkin.
Binkin, who was Bafana Bafana’s team manager when South Africa won the Africa Cup of Nations trophy on home soil in 1996, revealed that Mokoena still has a contract with Sundowns until the end of June 2026 and any interested party would have to approach the Tshwane giants.
Mokoena has been one of the success stories in the Bafana side that broke a 24-year drought by finishing third at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Bafana was painfully defeated by Nigeria’s Super Eagles on penalties on Wednesday, with the reigning PSL Footballer of the Year netting a late penalty to equalise to send the game to extra-time. Sadly, he saw another spot-kick being saved by Chippa United’s Stanley Nwabali in the shootout defeat.
While he missed a shootout kick again in the third-place playoff, Bafana prevailed 6-5 after a goalless draw with DR Congo.
Earlier in the tournament he pinned a superb free-kick in scoring the second goal as Bafana defeated Morocco 2-0 in the Round of 16, catching Yassine Bounou at the near post.
He scored one of the winning penalties as Bafana defeated Cape Verde 2-1 in a shootout in the quarter-finals to reach the semis, and has been one of Bafana’s standout players.
“Right now, Teboho is focused on the AFCON and on helping South Africa in their pursuit of glory,” Binkin told iDiski Times before the third-place playoff.
“There has been lots of interest in Teboho, but he remains under contract to Sundowns until June 2026 and any club interested in Mokoena would have to engage with Sundowns in this regard.”
