Hugo Broos has announced his Bafana Bafana starting XI to face Rwanda in today’s match day two of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
South Africa will take on Rwanda at Huye Stadium in Butare at 15:00 on Tuesday, with both sides looking to get maximum points and go top of the group.
Rwanda started their qualifiers with a goalless draw against Zimbabwe, which left them in fifth place in a group that has six nations.
With only first place qualifying, both teams have a great chance to put themselves in a good position after African power house Nigeria dropped points on both of their matches so far.
Broos’ men are currently in the driving seat after winning their opening game against Benin 2-1 in Durban, South Africa three days ago.
The Wasps might not have big names in their squad but goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari, who is playing for TS Galaxy in the DStv Premiership, is a familiar name to local football fans.
These two sides are facing each other for the first time, but on paper Bafana have the upper hand as they are ranked in 64th spot in the FIFA ranking, while Rwanda sit in 140th.
Broos and his men are also unbeaten in 12 successive matches, a record dating back to June 2022. Rwanda, meanwhile, have won just one of their last 14 games. At home, they’ve gone 10 games without a win, losing seven of those, while only scoring once.
The match will be shown live on SABC1.
