Bafana Bafana & Cape Verde Starting XIs Announced

Bafana Bafana and Cape Verde have announced their starting line-ups for this evening’s African Cup Of Nations quarter-final match at Stade de Yamoussoukro.

After knocking out AFCON favorites, South Africa find themselves in a favourable role against the Blue Sharks on Saturday.

Bafana started the journey in a shacky way after losing to Mali by 2-0, but the 1996 AFCON winners turned things around beating Namibia 4-0 in their second math. They secured a place in the last 16 after playing a goalless draw with Tunisia.

This is Bafana’s seventh quarter-final appearance and they’ve progressed to the semis three times, winning the competition in 1996.

Cape Verde also had great tournament. They beat Ghana 2-1 in the opening match before hammering Mozambique by 3-0 and drawing with Egypt by 2-2. They then knocked out Mauritania in the round of 16 with a 1-0 win.

These two sides faced each other five times, with Bafana winning two and Cape Verde winning two as well with one match ending as a draw. However, Cape Verde won the the last two contests in the 2017 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
