Bafana Drop In FIFA Ranking

Bafana Bafana dropped in the latest FIFA ranking after their two draws during the recent international break.

Hugo Broos’ men had climbed into 58th position globally and 10th in Africa after finishing third at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Many had expected Bafana to climb even higher after their exploits on the continent, but despite bringing home the bronze medal, Bafana only won two of their seven games inside 90 minutes, which always counts negatively in the FIFA ranking.

Although the recent 1-1 draw with European minnows, and 3-3 with Algeria were no losses, they also didn’t affect Bafana’s ranking much positively and they have even dropped one spot globally in the latest ranking, published on 4 April.
