Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana legend Doctor Khumalo has named two players who have stood out for him in South Africa’s goalless draw with Namibia.
Bafana played a bore draw against the Brave Warriors, which left many fans disappointed, but gave coach Hugo Broos a chance to rotate his squad and give some new players a chance.
Kabomlelo Kodisang and Thabiso Monyane receiving their senior international debuts, while Lebo Mothiba returned to the pitch for Bafana for the first time in nearly four years.
Despite the goalless draw, Khumalo stated that Saleng and Mothiba were the two players who impressed him in the game.
“I think Saleng, he did his best, even though he was not operating the way used to see him at Pirates,” he said on SABC1.
“But these are totally different level. Also you have Mothiba that I thought after so many years he’s been given an opportunity.
“Yes, we know that he has got three other strikers, except for Lyle who started, he raise his hand.
“He was on top of his game.”
Khumalo also explained why it was an important game for Broos, even thought it wasn’t the most exciting game for the spectators.
“Hugo summed it because he says he wanted to see some of the boys and that’s exactly what this game was all about,” he added.
“For viewers and those who were sitting in the stands, it might have been a boring game because no goals, there was no creativity within the game at all.
“But for the technical team this was a very important game for the coach to see what he has in stall.”
