Hunt – He Should Get 100 Caps For Bafana

SuperSport United head coach Gavin Hunt believes teenager Neo Rapoo is the best left-back in the country.

The South Africa youth international has been on the fringes of the first-team squad since the age of 16 due to his immense potential showcased in the club’s development.

But last season, which was touted as his breakthrough campaign was marred by a serious injury and ruled him out of contention for selection.

Having turned 19 in August, Rapoo has now stepped up from his disappointment and is cementing his place in the club’s starting line-up.

“I don’t want to put pressure on him, but I think he’s the best left-back in South Africa, I think he will, should, get 100 caps in my opinion, but obviously he maybe has to go to the right club,” Hunt said.

“But he’s fantastic, has come back strong [after a serious injury], he’s been really good coming back from that horrific injury.

“Certainly, one for the future, you know if I had my way, I would pick him [for Bafana], he is very good, so yeah, let’s see. He needs a bit of time to get back to where he was.”

The South Africa youth international has featured 12 times for Matsatsansa since making his debut for the club in August 2022 in the MTN8 semi-final against Mamelodi Sundowns.
