Pitso Mosimane has heaped praise on Oswin Appollis and Relebohile Mofokeng after the pair impressed in Bafana Bafana’s emphatic 5-0 victory over Eritrea on Wednesday evening.
South Africa produced another dominant performance to claim all three points, with Mosimane particularly pleased with the attacking combination and selflessness shown by his players.
Appollis played a key role in the victory, providing two assists as Bafana made light work of their opponents.
“I’m happy with the two assists of Appollis, he can play anywhere on the side, centrally, good boy, good player and I’m happy with Appollis,” Mosimane said.
The Bafana coach also highlighted Appollis’ contribution to Luther Singh’s comeback, with the forward returning to the national team after a lengthy absence.
“He gave assists, he set up Luther Singh an opportunity to score on his comeback, he’s been out for a long time to score,” he added.
Mosimane was also impressed by the willingness of the players to create opportunities for one another, pointing to Singh’s own contribution after he supplied two balls that created chances.
“Even Luther gave two balls [created chances], it shows the players are together, no selfishness and together,” he said.
While Appollis played a significant role, Mosimane reserved particularly high praise for Orlando Pirates star Mofokeng, who continued to showcase his quality on the international stage.
“Rele has showed his class, what a class, Rele is a top player,” Mosimane said.
The 5-0 victory capped another positive outing for Bafana under Mosimane, while the performances of Appollis and Mofokeng provided further encouragement in attack ahead of facing Egypt on Sunday in the Cairo International Stadium.
