Mudau Confident Bafana Can Stop Shalulile And Namibia

Bafana Bafana defender Khuliso Mudau says they are confident of securing a win over Namibia and keeping Peter Shalulile quiet in their Africa Cup of Nations clash on Sunday evening.

Bafana heads into the game knowing a defeat could spell the end of their campaign before the final Group E fixture against Tunisia after losing to Mali 2-0 in the opening game.

While the Brave Warriors could seal their place in the last-16 for the first time in their history with a win over Bafana, Mudau says they are ready to spoil the party as, Broos highlighted they are over the opening day defeat.

“I think everyone is motivated to play the game because we know how Namibia plays, we know the players, I just hope it’s going to be a good match,” Mudau said ahead of the game on Sunday.

“Everyone is motivated because they are neighbours as the coach said, it won’t be an easy game, it will be a fight because they will come [at us], they’re spirited and want to beat us as our neighbours but I think we’re ready to give them the fight and I’m confident we can win the game.”

With Shalulile a three-time Golden Boot winner in South Africa and arguably one of the finest strikers on the continent, his Mamelodi Sundowns teammate knows him better than most.

“Peter is a top guy, a top striker, we just need to help each other so we can stop him from scoring goals, we train with him every day,” he explained.

“I know the players, the others know him [too], we play in the same league in South Africa. It’s a difficult one, to be honest, but I think we can manage it.”

The two sides meet on Sunday at the Amadou Gon Coulibaly Stadium at 22h00.
