The South African Football Association (SAFA) has announced it will host a press conference at SAFA House tomorrow.

The presser is likely to outline Hugo Broos’ position as Bafana Bafana head coach with his contract set to expire at the end of July 2026.

Murmurs are that there is a growing expectation that the grey-haired Belgian tactician will continue his five-year successive tenure at the helm of the South African senior men’s national team for one more year.

Broos took over the Bafana hotseat in May 2021, qualifying the side to back-to-back Africa Cup of Nations campaigns while claiming bronze in the 2023 edition.

His latest feat saw him lead Mzansi to the knockout stages of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the Americas for the first time in the country’s history.

Presser Details:

Date: Friday, 31 July
Time: 12:00
Venue: SAFA House

Should Broos stay on as head coach, he will see the side throughout the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers for next year’s continental showpiece co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.

An exit for the 2017 AFCON-winning coach with Cameroon is however not completely ruled out.
