Banyana Announce Squads For Europe Trip & Cosafa

Banyana Banyana head coach Dr Desiree Ellis has announced her 24-woman squad for the upcoming international friendly matches against Denmark and England, with coach Maude Khumalo also naming her team for the upcoming 2024 COSAFA Women’s Championship.

The African champions are scheduled to face 12th ranked Denmark at Aalborgh Stadium on the October 25 followed by the friendly with 2nd ranked and European champions England at the Coventry Arena on 29 October, with both matches forming part as preparations for the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

Thembi Kgatlana and Andile Dlamini are back having missed the Senegal friendlies, with the latter replacing Katlego Moletsana. Asanda Hadebe and Mmabatho Mogale who were with the team last time out, have been named in the squad to participate at the COSAFA Women’s championship in Gqeberha. Bongeka Gamede of the University of Western Cape, Noko Matlou and Jermaine Seoposenwe are the notable absentees from the squad.

Banyana will also have the Shamase twins with Sphumelele also included in the squad. UWC’s Nondumiso Manengela has also earned her herself a first call-up following her exploits in the domestic league and the CAF Women’s Champions League COSAFA qualifiers.
