Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Miguel Cardoso has lamented the timing of the Club World Cup trophy tour that transpired a day before their highly anticipated top-of-the-table clash against Orlando Pirates.
The Brazilians had the honour to showcase the trophy at the club’s base in Chloorkop which was unveiled by club chairman Tlhopi Motsepe ahead of the tournament which will be staged in the USA between 14 June and 13 July 2025.
Cardoso, who led his charges to a 4-1 annihilation of Pirates at Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Saturday, expressed his dissatisfaction at the trophy event as it coincided with their preparation for their Pirates match.
“Believe me, yesterday I was so pissed off, so pissed off! Cardoso told the media.
“Because we had the day to think about the World Cup when we should be thinking about Pirates.
“I was not happy believe me because I know what we have ahead. And for us ahead is always the next match.

“I don’t think about Champions League at all. I don’t think about the World Cup…
“I just had to cope with activities that allow us to prepare for this moments, but our daily lives next day, next day, next day, next day!
“So, today we analyse, we see the contacts we take the decisions to win tomorrow, and tomorrow is the training session to grow.”
