Chiefs Legend Itching To Become A Coach

Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Fabian McCarthy is gearing up to bag his first big coaching gig after admitting that he has sent out his resume to potential suitors.

The 47-year-old former tough tackling hardman had a successful football career spanning close to a decade having turned out for the likes of Bloemfontein Celtic, Mamelodi Sundowns, Moroka Swallows, Maritzburg United and Mpumalanga Black Aces.

Having most recently acquired his CAF A Licence, McCarthy, in his interview with iDiski Times writer Rob Delport, in edition 183, beamed with excitement as he awaits an opportunity to start coaching.

“I’m happy now, I’m doing media, but I’m sending my CV out. I want to coach! McCarthy told iDiski Times.

“I want to lose my hair. I want to get grey. I want to get old because I love, and I feel I have something to give back to the game or to contribute. So, I’m just waiting for an opportunity.

“When I watch the game, I watch it as a coach. I’m no more there to say I was this player. I don’t talk about how players are playing.

“I’m watching the coaches. I’m watching the players. I’m watching the game plan, the substitution, all those things that I’ve never watched or worried about.

“It’s just a question of us here, the football fraternity, let’s regroup, let’s come together, let’s work together, and let us not push each other down or bad mouth each other. “
