Kaizer Chiefs secured their third consecutive win under interim coach Cavin Johnson as they beat relegation-threatened Richards Bay 1-0 at FNB Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
In what wasn’t a classic Amakhosi performance by any stretch of the imagination, the positives will undoubtedly be nine points from a possible nine.
Starting with the Soweto Derby victory over Moroka Swallows, they’ve secured 1-0 wins over Polokwane City and Richards Bay.
In pre-match, Nkosingphile Ngocbo said that he’s working hard to fulfil his potential with the club was the difference with a sumptuous strike three minutes before the break.
He picked up the ball in midfield from Yusuf Maart’s pin-point pass to drive forward and smash a low effort into the bottom right corner of Salim Magoola’s net.
The return of Ashely du Preez was also another welcomed boost for the Soweto giants, who only had a couple of scared from the visitors but saw Bruce Bvuma in confident form.
Having been named in the 50-man preliminary Bafana Bafana squad, Bvuma has now kept three clean sheets in three starts.
Meanwhile, Kaitano Tembo’s side are in 15th place, six points ahead of 16th-placed Cape Town Spurs.
