Chiefs To Face Sundowns During Break

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi says they will face Mamelodi Sundowns during another extended break before returning to league action.

With the Carling Knockout fixtures yet to be communicated, as things stand, Chiefs will face SuperSport United in the league on 26 October.

While the likes of Orlando Pirates, Sundowns and Stellenbosch have played 10 games across all competitions, that would be Chiefs’ fourth game.

“Definitely we have scheduled a few friendly games and among the teams that we’re going to face, we do also have Sundowns,” Nabi said after the 2-1 loss to Sundowns.

“But me, I don’t understand why the league stop like this. We started in 16 September, we played three games and then we stopped again. Guys, please.”

In terms of rebuilding the squad and regaining the support of the fans, with three sold-out stadiums to kick off the season is indicating is the direction, Nabi says he will look to build trust by being brutally honest at all times.

“The fans, I am honest, it’s the first part of the strategy of building the comeback for Kaizer Chiefs, you need respect, you need to explain what’s the strategy and like that, you are in the right direction,” he explained.

“We need patience. Without patience, we can’t do anything. For that we respect, in my first press conference, we spoke about the fans. Honestly, I don’t want popularity, I won’t say what the fans like to listen to, it’s not about Nabi.

“If you respect fans, you will talk honestly, maybe it’s bad, if you are honest, you are serious and it will help you, we need Chiefs fans, all the fans in good moments and bad moments.”
