Cape Town City coach Jan Vreman has questioned the referees in his side’s 2-0 defeat to Magesi in the promotional/relegation playoffs.
The Citizens lost their second game in the playoffs, going down 2-0 at Seshego Stadium after goals by Mcedi Vandala and Edmore Chirambadare.
However, there was a big talking point early in the game when Chirambadare fouled Dhakier Lee with a bad tackle but got away with a yellow card, with the scene leaving Vreman fuming after full-time.
“You saw it, especially in the first half, it has to be a red, it has to be a red card,” he told SuperSport TV.
“Then you get a different game. If they don’t make the right decisions, then it’s impossible to play.
“You saw it in replay, he broke his leg almost. There is four men around the field and no one sees it.”
There was also a contentious penalty which handed Magesi their lead before half-time, with Vreman only saying his players questioned the decision – while the City coach also admitted his side did not do enough throughout the game.
“Penalty I cannot judge, if I hear from the goalkeeper also… it’s, it’s…” he replied when asked about the penalty.
“The only thing I cannot mention on our team we did not bring enough today, but if they are making this decisions it’s difficult.
“We have to play two more games and wait what the other teams are doing.”
