After their goalless draw against Orbit College, Cape Town City interim coach Diogo Peral says they’re feeling suitably prepared for their Promotional playoff opponents.
While City’s matches are broadcast every week, those of Motsepe Foundation Championship opponents Orbit and Casric Stars are rarely shown, but Peral says that they were able to get access to games to watch and also attended matches of both teams.
This was in response to a question about whether the MFC teams have an advantage by being able to see City on TV regularly.
“I think in terms of watching them, analysis, I think it’s changed a little bit nowadays,” Peral said after the goalless draw against Orbit.
“You get the footage, we’ve watched all their final games, each coach has going to watch a live game as well. So, we did the homework.
“We knew what kind of football they play. We know that they’re a team that’s comfortable on the ball. They like to build up. They play through the thirds. And then if you press them, then they’ll go long as well. They’ve got the ability to do that; they’ve got a goalkeeper that can put it into the final third. So, they spread you a little bit like that.
“So we know about the teams that we’re playing against.
“I’ve gone to watch Casric Stars. On their home field. It’s just about getting the personnel on the field that can deal with it.
“So now it’s away from home, it’s more difficult. We’re playing a completely different team (from Orbit), they’re a direct team. Now we need to plan and go and get points away from home.”
City face Casric at the Solomon Mahlangu Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.
