CT City Express Disappointment In PSL Decision

Cape Town City caretaker coach Diogo Peral was left disappointed by the PSL’s decision to play the second half of the game between SuperSport United and Golden Arrows.

City managed to collect one point against Stellenbosch FC which moved them to 14th place and possibly avoid the promotion playoffs.

But their fate is no longer in their hands because of the game that was abandoned in February 2025 between SSU and Arrows. The scoreline in that game was 1-1 at the break but the game had to be stopped due to loadshedding.

Peral, who is under massive pressure to save City from being relegated, explained that there’s a reason for playing all the last games of the league in the last day and that is to avoid teams choosing results. Should this end as a draw or SuperSport win, City will finish 15th and compete in the promotion playoffs.

“It’s disappointing that happened, I mean the reason that all games are played at the same time is that teams don’t get to choose the results they want,” Peral told the media.

“The very reason those games are to avoid that on top of that it’s the two teams that are fighting relegation they playing each other. It’s a bit of a joke. It is what it is, to start with all these fairies and negatives it’s not gonna help us in the next game.

“The only thing we can do is to deal with what is in our hands; is to forget all that and prepare as well as we can like we’ve been preparing for the last few games we have played, put it all out the there for the 90 minutes and the rest takes care of itself.”
