Kaizer Chiefs head coach Fernando da Cruz has predicted Kabelo Nkgwesa will develop into a ‘very good’ player for the club.
The academy graduate who was one of the standout talents in the DStv Diski Challenge made his senior debut on Wednesday evening in their 2-0 win over Sekhukhune United, replacing Reeve Frosler late in the encounter.
Having impressed in pre-season to form part of da Cruz’ plans this season, he admits there’s some work for the player to do, tactically – but feels he has immense potential to make a lasting impact at the Soweto giants.
“Kabelo is a player with a lot of qualities, he has a lot of qualities but for now he has to work on the tactical discipline because he always wants to play forward but sometimes he needs to be careful,” he said when asked by iDiski Times about the promising talent.
“But for the future, for sure he will be a very good player for Kaizer Chiefs – but only one thing, as I said in the press conference last night, young players need to listen to the coach.”
Nkgwesa will be aiming to build on his first senior minutes, when Chiefs host Mamelodi Sundowns this weekend at FNB Stadium (15h00).
