Orlando Pirates midfielders Kabelo Dlamini and Miguel Timm have reacted to scoring in the 2-0 win over seven-time UEFA Europa League champions Sevilla.
The Buccaneers faced the LALIGA giants at the Estadio Jesus Navas on Tuesday evening and secured a respectable 2-0 victory thanks to goals by Timm and Dlamini in either half.
“It was a tough game, but I’m happy we’ve managed push with the gents,” Dlamini, who scored his side’s second with a beautiful curler, told the club’s media team after the match.
“For me, it was my first pre-season game and I’m happy I managed to get a goal.
“When we’re here we’re playing against a team like Sevilla, and I’m glad we managed to cope defensively. And I hope we’re gonna go [back] to South Africa and push.”
Timm, who had scored Pirates opener with a powerful header following a corner, said the result is a welcome reward for the hard work they’ve been putting in during their camp in Spain.
“This is all the hard work we’ve put in so far,” he added.
“Everyone that’s been part of the camp knows how tough it’s been – hardly any rest, two sessions a day and then for us to reward ourselves, this is what we deserve.
“I’m just happy for the execution on what we’ve been doing in training. Not so much the result, that’s the cherry on top, just more the execution of tactics we’ve been working on, the fitness and also part of the set-pieces.”
Pirates next face Qatari record champions Al Sadd on Friday, 19 July.
