Kaizer Chiefs have secured the signing of former Port Vale midfielder Ethan Chislett ahead of the 2025/26 season.
The Durban-born talent, whose father Donovan plied his trade in the Premier Soccer League, has spent his professional career in England over the past decade but has now been lured back home by Chiefs.
As first reported by FARPost, the 26-year-old has penned a two-year deal with an option to extend with the Soweto giants, with Chislett seen as a potential starting XI player, capable of playing as a 10, eight or as a wide-midfielder.
In a recent interview with iDiski Times, his agent Mike Makaab touted his as a potential surprise package for the upcoming season and it hasn’t taken long for him to be snapped up.
“Ethan Chislett is exciting. We’re talking to a number of clubs in the country. When his father played in South Africa, I represented his father – he was a hard-working, steely type of player. But when I saw Ethan play, I watched a number of his games and highlights. Goodness me…
“He has a great engine, but his technical ability, to pass, score goals, set-pieces, it’s absolutely phenomenal. I am quietly confident we will see him in the PSL this season.”
Chislett is set to have rejected approaches in the second-tier in England, with the player keen to ply his trade in South Africa and break into the senior national team.
Sources within the Amakhosi technical team have confirmed the player will arrive in the country on Thursday to start life with the Soweto giants.
He netted 16 goals with 13 assists in 168 games for Vale and AFC Wimbledon respectively over the past five seasons.
