Former TS Galaxy and Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Sibusiso Vilkazi has signed a short-term deal with Sekhukhune United.
Vilakazi, 33, parted ways with Galaxy after less than six months at the club, in the final week of the January transfer window.
It’s said he fell out of favour under head coach Sead Ramovic before being sent to the DStv Diski Challenge squad and ultimately agreeing to terminate his contract with the Rockets.
It marked the end of an ill-fated stint at the club which is reportedly going through financial issues with a select group of players and non-playing staff unpaid over the past months.
However, ‘Vila’ stated his issues at the club were not due to unprofessionalism or the alleged lack of effort but rather personal issues family issues that prevented him from being at his best over the last few months of his stint.
The 2013/14 PSL Footballer of the Season was then invited to train with Sekhukhune United shortly after his exit – with head coach Brandon Truter a big fan of his abilities.
While it was seen as means to keep fit until the end of the season, iDiski Times can confirm the five-time league winner has penned a six-month deal with a one-year option to extend.
The veteran midfielder will undoubtedly add another dimension to the Babina Noko squad who were in search of an attacking midfielder over the past few months.
He’s racked up 268 appearances in the DStv Premiership, scoring 48 goals and registering 29 assists since making his league debut for the now-defunct Bidvest Wits in 2009.
