Chippa United have once again been in trouble with FIFA and been banned from making transfers over outstanding financial obligations towards former midfielder Roland Sanou.
Sanou, 24, was on the books of the Chilli Boys in 2024/25 but never actually featured in an official match for the club after joining on a free transfer from Moroka Swallows.
The Brukina Faso midfielder has taken the matter to FIFA, who ruled in the player’s favour.
In a communique seen by this publication, FIFA have informed the Gqeberha-based club of their decision, stating Chippa have received a ban from registering new players internationally and nationally.
The registration ban will remain active until the amount due is paid and for a maximum duration of up to three entire and consecutive registration periods.
FIFA have also instructed the South African Football Association to immediately implement a ban from registering news players at national level, if not done yet.
Sanou featured 12 times for Swallows after joining from Royal FC Bobo in his home country. After leaving the Chilli Boys, the midfielder returned to Burkina Faso and now plays for Vitesse FC.
