Kaizer Chiefs defender Rushwin Dortley explains that staying humble, focused & grounded has helped him handle the attention of playing for one of the biggest football institutions.
Dortley’s career has grown immensely over the past since receiving his first Bafana Bafana call-up for the COSAFA Cup when he was still a Cape Town Spurs player early in the year. He then joined Chiefs and continued to impress which earned him a senior national team call-up for the AFCON qualifiers.

From playing for a relegated Spurs to playing for the most supported team in South Africa, Dortley explained that it’s not easy, but it’s important not to be on social media most of the time and focus on what Chiefs signed you for, which is to play football.
“There will be comments in the media and all of those things even the good ones but you have to stay focused,” Dortley told the media at Naturena.
“On the goal you have set for yourself, stay humble, stay grounded and do not always be on social media on a regular.
“Then you gonna get attached to the stuff and get dragged away from your initial move when you came here was to play football and help the club.

“If you continue doing that you will forget about what you came here to do so for me it’s just to stay humble and calm.”
