Kaizer Chiefs striker Ashley Du Preez aims to get back into the starting line-up after playing a huge role from the bench in the past few games.
Du Preez has been struggling for regular game-time this season after recovering from a serious injury, starting just 11 games.
Overall, the 27-year-old has made 21 appearances in all competitions and has scored five goals. But Du Preez seems to be coming back strong from his injury, as he scored two goals from the bench against Magesi and Mamelodi Sundowns.
“Yeah definitely that’s what every striker would like to do, coming on as a sub, I’ve been doing that in two games against Magesi, getting few minutes from the bench and scored a winning goal so for me it’s just to prove week in and week out that I want to be in the starting XI – every player wants to be in the starting XI,” Du Preez told the media.
“Thinking about that goal against Sundowns, getting the winning goal in the Nedbank Cup to reaching the finals, it’s just an amazing feeling for me and the club.
“So for me it’s to keep pushing no matter the time, I’m getting it’s just about helping the club.”
Chiefs and Du Preez are back in action on Saturday when they will face Marumo Gallants at the FNB Stadium.
