Kaizer Chiefs forward Wandile Duba admits that the club’s defence is a challenge but maintained that the winning mentality brought by coach Nasreddine Nabi is still there.
Chiefs are in a 10th season without a trophy with Nabi brought in at the beginning of the season to revive the club.
They have however also struggled for consistent results under Nabi and currently sit in fifth position in the Betway Premiership log with 21 points from 14 matches.
The 20-year-old attacker feels like the biggest thing that is costing his side is lack of full concentration in games.
“The mentality is still there, and it works,” said Duba.
“It’s just the small mistakes that are costing us like I mentioned in the beginning, the lack of concentration the whole 90 minutes. But the desire and the mentality to win matches is still there.
“I mean even when you check the stats of every game you can see the shots we create and how well our attack [department] is doing. It’s the defence that’s still giving us a challenge at the moment.”

Duba has four goals in the league so far and also admitted that attackers put the side under pressure when they don’t do their job and if that can be fixed, Chiefs’ season can get back on track.
“Obviously, we [strikers] put ourselves under pressure because at Kaizer Chiefs we get paid to score goals,” added Duba.
“So, if we don’t score goals, we put our defenders under pressure. So, we have to score goals so that our defence doesn’t have pressure.”
