Ernst Makes Plea To Former Club Chiefs

Bottom-of-the-table Cape Town Spurs will be ‘supporting’ Kaizer Chiefs on Sunday, as they face Richards Bay, so says Spurs’ coach Ernst Middendorp.

Spurs are currently five points behind Bay, who they face next week, and if they are to have any real chance of getting off the bottom spot, they will need Chiefs to take all points off Vusumuzi Vilakazi’s team on Sunday afternoon.

Spurs take on Bay at Athlone Stadium on Friday, and if they are able to get a victory, and Bay get no points against Chiefs, Middendorp’s team would be just two points behind their relegation rivals.

“We have the game now on Friday against Richards Bay,” Middendorp told the media.

“In the moment we have to be fans of Kaizer Chiefs that they do their job (tomorrow )and take this game against Richards Bay serious.

“We play Richards Bay at the moment it’s still five points and with the Friday evening game we can probably reduce the distance. It’s our job at the moment to make it happen, to come back into a distance of two points.

“And then our home game against Polokwane on Tuesday, Richards Bay play AmaZulu, let’s wait and see what happens”.
