Ex-Sundowns Boss Neeskens Dies Aged 73

Netherlands legend and former Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Johan Neeskens has passed away aged 73, the Royal Dutch Football Association has confirmed.

Neeskens who coached Sundowns in the 2011/12 season was largely remembered for being attacked by the club’s supporters before being replaced by Pitso Mosimane.

However, his career in football was iconic as one of the finest midfielders of all time for Ajax, FC Barcelona and the Oranje.

With 14 major titles to his name and two FIFA World Cup runners-up medals, Neeskens goes down as one of the finest in football history.

It was confirmed on Monday that he’d passed on in Algeria where he was working with the WorldCoaches project of the KNVB.
