Marumo Gallants’ troubles have deepened after a reported administrative error left two marquee signings unable to play for the club, raising fresh questions about its operations as it struggles near the bottom of the Betway Premiership.

iDiski Times has been informed by sources that Zimbabwe international Daniel Msendami and Mali midfielder Abdoulaye Mariko were not registered in time after joining from Orlando Pirates on loan towards the end of the transfer window.

As a result, neither player is currently eligible to feature for Gallants, and the next opportunity to register them will only come when the transfer window reopens in January.

Neither player has appeared in a matchday squad since completing the move. Their continued absence has raised eyebrows and created confusion around their situations.

A boost that never materialised

The late window activity had initially offered some encouragement at a club in need of reinforcements. Msendami and Mariko were viewed as a significant boost to Gallants’ ambitions for the rest of the campaign, both highly regarded players expected to bring extra quality, international experience and another dimension to the attack.

Struggling season

The setback comes at a difficult time. Gallants have lost six matches this season and only recorded their first win of the campaign last Friday, beating Siwelele 3-2. The difficult start has put further pressure on the club to turn things around.

Having identified and secured two players who could have made an immediate difference, Gallants now find themselves without their services because the necessary registration processes were not completed in time.

The situation is a frustrating one for everyone involved, and an unwanted distraction when the focus should be on climbing the standings.

With January the earliest point at which the issue can be resolved, the club will have to find solutions within its current squad while two of its most notable recent additions remain unavailable.
