Former FIFA Referee Victor Hlungwani has made a claim about sati sticks that were discovered at the centre circle in the Orlando Pirates-Richards Bay Betway Premiership clash.
The game had to be slightly delayed as groundsmen were alerted of the objects which was then removed with the usage of gloves.
“The Principal” has now revealed that the said objects are used for cleansing but was unhappy that it led to the match not commencing on time.
“We saw some coins on the field of play,” Hlungwani on Andile Ncube MetroFM Sports Night Amplified.
“We also saw something called sati sticks used by another culture to take out bad lucks. To cleanse. So, we saw them on the field.

“If I can tell you my experience of entering the technical areas of teams, certain teams, I was locked. They say it’s a speed trap.

“They locked my legs and the worst one I can tell you it was [Orlando] Pirates and Kaizer [Chiefs]. I don’t know where I was trapped there but when I did my investigation, they said it’s a speed trap,” Hlungwani further said.
