SuperSport United head coach Gavin Hunt admits it’s not ideal that new loanee Lebogang Maboe will be unavailable for the Tshwane Derby.
The two sides meet on Wednesday evening in the Betway Premiership and Maboe, who made a deadline-day move to SuperSport made his debut against AmaZulu but will not be eligible to face his parent club.
Sundowns head coach Miguel Cardoso confirmed that the 30-year-old asked to leave the club in a bid to get more regular first-team football.
“I work on the green grass, he’s just come in, it’s disappointing because I think he adds value to us but obviously agreements were done that wherever they were done, I don’t know anything about it,” Hunt said.
“I have just been told he can’t play, so that is a big blow to us because obviously he’s quality and we saw on Saturday when we played, the half an hour he played, you can see the quality he can give us, a different dimension to the team, so it’s disappointing.

“I look at some teams and they play the same XI every week, if you can tell me my starting XI for Wednesday I’d be lucky man, so it’s a bit difficult you know.”
Maboe has racked up 183 appearances for sundowns, scoring 20 goals, with 23 assists since joining the club from Maritzburg United in August 2018.
