Orlando Pirates legend Jerry Sikhosana has opened up about why he is “not okay” with his former club’s league success, despite them breaking a 14-year title drought.

The Buccaneers secured a historic treble this season, walking away with the MTN8, Carling Knockout Cup, and the Betway Premiership.

In the league race, they fiercely battled Mamelodi Sundowns, who were chasing their ninth consecutive title.

However, the final matchday was shrouded in controversy as the Buccaneers secured a 2-0 win over Orbit College courtesy of two bizarre own goals.

Sikhosana admitted that while he appreciates the silverware, the triumph feels tainted. He expressed discomfort over how the final match unfolded, pointing out that Orbit College players Sabelo Nkomo and Ndumiso Ngiba, who scored own goals, were seen laughing during the game, fueling the widespread controversy.

“I don’t feel okay, people are talking that after 14 years, it’s mammoth task, thanks because they won the league,” Sikhosana told the reporters after the Khabba Cup tournament at King Zwelithini Stadium Umlazi on Sunday evening.

“But people look at how did they win the league. They got two goals that were scored for them [own goals].

“Players that scored those two goals, they were laughing inside the field as if they have done something good, killing their stay in the elite league, which is the PSL [Betway Premiership].

“I don’t know…I don’t know what Orbit…what was the?…But let me retract out of it.”
