Johnson Gives Chiefs Injury Update, 3 Stars Return

Kaizer Chiefs interim coach Cavin Johnson has confirmed that Ashley du Preez, Tebogo Potsane and Dillan Solomons have returned to the squad ahead of their clash with Richards Bay on Saturday.

Amakhosi won back-to-back games against Moroka Swallows and Polokwane City, and have a chance to collect three successive wins for the very first time this season.

Chiefs could move back into fifth place with a win over second-from-bottom Richards Bay, and Johnson confirmed that he has more options back at his disposal.

“The back-to-back wins we have are good for Kaizer Chiefs,” he told the club’s media team.

“Since then, we have had a little break and I can tell you there is no shortage of motivation among the players to finish the year on a high.

“We are ready for Saturday’s game. There might be a few new faces in the team. Ashley (Du Preez) is in the squad so I can see how far he has come in his recovery, and I also have (Tebogo) Potsane and Dillan Solomons in camp.”

Johnson also revealed that the squad want to hand their fans “a great Christmas present” – just days before Christmas Day.

“They have two very good coaches but we are aware of the threats they possess but we believe we can nullify them and come out on top,” he added.

“We are at home and we want to put on a good performance for our fans, many of whom are on holiday and deserve to enjoy an entertaining festive season.

“We want to go out and give our supporters a great Christmas present.”
