Kaizer Jr. Provides Clarity On Zwane & Sheppard Roles

Kaizer Chiefs Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr. has explained the new roles of former head coach Arthur Zwane as well as his assistant Dillon Sheppard and the rest of last season’s technical team.

Zwane took over the reigns of head coach ahead of the 2022/23 season but was relieved of his duties after just a single campaign in his three-year contract.

He has since been moved into a role within the academy structures, as previously reported by this publication.

“Coach Arthur [Zwane], his title is senior academy coach,” he told journalists.

“His task is very important. He works with our DDC, U19, U17, U15 and U13, to be able to provide a ‘blanket training philosophy’.

“So, his role in time is to spend time with each of these groups to make sure that we have uniformity, and we can continue our progression and pathway for youth players.

“He also forms part of our scouting department, so his role is very clear. That’s what he’ve been busy with.”

Chiefs’ sporting director also gave clarity on where Molefi Ntseki’s technical team have been redeployed within the club after Nasreddine Nabi brought his own specialists.

“We have Dillon Sheppard as an assistant to coach Vela [Khumalo] at the DDC side. He will also form part of the scouting team,” Motaung Jr. added.

“We have Muzi Maluleka, who will also be our fitness coach at DDC level. And of course, Aubrey Mathibe will be our DDC goalkeeper coach.

“So they are part of us, they’re part of the academy. And they are looking forward to next season.”
