Kaizer Jr. – Why Chiefs Signed Fleurs

Kaizer Chiefs Sporting Director, Kaizer Motaung Jr. has explained why Amakhosi opted to sign versatile defender Luke Fleurs.

Fleurs, 23, had parted ways with SuperSport as confirmed by Gavin Hunt to this publication, and was pictured training at Naturena in September.

However, Chiefs didn’t rush to finalise his deal because as a free agent he could be signed outside of the transfer window.

On Thursday, Chiefs finally confirmed the signing of Fleurs who joined the club on a two-year contract, with an option for a further season.

“We are very excited and happy to have Luke join us,” Kaizer Jr. told the club’s media team.

“The young man has great technical abilities and I think he will fit really well into how we want to approach the game and the kind of football we would like to play going forward.

“Of course, being a youth international and having experienced the Olympics, as well as having many PSL games under his belt, we believe his attributes will benefit the team.”

Fleurs has become the club’s 10th signing of the season after the latest addition of Sibongiseni Mthethwa from Stellenbosch FC.
