SuperSport United head coach Gavin Hunt has insisted that he holds no grudges over the situation with Luke Fleurs after the player was seen training at Kaizer Chiefs earlier in the week.
The versatile defender was spotted training at Naturena this week, after reports emerged that SuperSport and Fleurs mutually agreed to terminate his contract, despite the player only signing a new long-term following advances from Chiefs in January.
Hunt spoke after his side’s 1-0 DStv Premiership win over Amakhosi in Polokwane, admitting he was a bit surprised to see Fleurs at “another club” while he was listed as injured for Matsatsantsa.
“He left us. You know he’s been injured for over a month,” Hunt said about Fleurs in reponse to iDiski Times.
“He was injured, so he decided he wants to leave. We were away in Botswana when it all happened, so I wasn’t really privy to it.
“And then you know he didn’t train for well over a month and then he went and trained the next day at another club.”
Hunt, though, wished the 23-year-old well ahead of his new endeavour.
“So ja, I wish him well and you know things happen in football and he wants to play more, so good luck,” he added.
Fleurs had joined SSU from Ubuntu in 2018, and made 70 senior appearances for the Pretoria side.
