AmaZulu FC co-coach Vusumuzi Vilakazi has admitted that they need to boost their striking department after scoring two goals in the last three matches.
Usuthu find themselves sitting in 13th place after suffering a late defeat against Mamelodi Sundowns. The KwaZulu-Natal-based side only scored two goals in the last three matches and 10 in nine Betway Premiership games so far.
Etiosa Ighodaro is currently the club’s top scorer with three goals, while the likes of Junior Dion, Luvuyo Phewa, Senzo Ndlovu, and Msindisi Ndlouve are yet to score.
Vilakazi emphasized that the upcoming transfer window is important for them as they would like to improve their striking department to improve the side and be able to compete for a better spot in the league table.
“I think it’s a worrying department, as you’re saying maybe Junior didn’t have one of the best games today and we ended up using Moremi who is a winger as a striker who did very well because we identified that he is having that uptight of exploiting those spaces he might do well as a striker,” Zwane told the media.
“But obviously, it is a worrying factor as you’re saying we still looking for a striker because even in our next game Igo will be available but we can’t rely on one person maybe Junior is having a rough time, he will bounce back. We will try as coaches to help him to bounce back and see what is it that is going to happen.
“We still have Bombo as well but we still dealing with adaptation as well when you look at where he was playing, he was playing in the ABC Motsepe and skipped other levels and jumped straight to PSL so we still to make sure that we allaying him in terms of understanding the demands of the expectations in this level where it is PSL.”
