Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Cedric Kaze has lamented Glody Lilepo’s sending off after scoring the winner against AmaZulu on Saturday.
Amakhosi opened a 10-point gap between third spot and fourth place after beating Usuthu at Moses Mabhida Stadium.
Lilepo was the hero of the after, scoring the winner in the 68th minute, but he quickly turned villain after receiving a second yellow card for taking his shirt off during the celebrations.
His coach labelled the incident an “unfortunate situation” but admitted he also understand the emotions of the player.
“We need to be careful because he was already booked and he takes his shirt off as he celebrates,” he said on SuperSport TV.
“Which means that we’re going to miss him in the last game. It’s an unfortunate situation.
“Sometimes you also understand the player, the passion and relief for scoring but it’s good that we have three points.
“But in future we need to be careful about things like that.”
Chiefs will finish their season at home against Chippa United, with Lilepo now being suspended for the match. Lilepo ends his campaign with five goals and four assists in 27 Betway Premiership appearances.
