Former Kaizer Chiefs co-coaches Khalil Ben Yousseff and Cedric Kaze have previewed their opening clash of the 2026/27 Betway Premiership when the two coaches will go up against each other.
The two coaches split up after finishing third with Chiefs in the 2025/26 Betway Premiership season, but it wasn’t enough for the Amakhosi management who opted to part ways with the co-coaches and appoint Fernando Da Cruz.
But it didn’t take long for either to be picked up by local clubs, with Kaze joining Sekhukhune United and Ben Yousseff joining Durban City – and coincidently both will now meet each other on match day one of the new Betway Premiership campaign.
“I think we didn’t expect to start the season with this game,” Ben Yousseff said during the league’s launch.
“But like I said a couple of month ago we were working together for a great team, now each one of us we have to compete, we have to fight for each team.
“It will be inshallah a great game between City and Sekhukhune. It will be a moment where each one of us can proof the work we have done during the pre-season.
“I hope it will be a great game and people will enjoy the game.”
‘It’s Not A Game Between Two Persons’
Kaze is also expecting an entertaining game, but insisted it’s a match between two clubs despite the focus on both coaches.
“It’s a good thing that the first game is Sekhukhune against Durban so we can put that aside very early,” Kaze stated.
“I hope that the best wins and we have worked together for a couple of years, not only in our previous club but even in Tanzania we worked together.
“I’m pretty sure that’s its’g going to be a very entertaining game. I wish the best wins and I’m pretty sure the fans will enjoy the football.
“It’s time for each of us to show what we have been preparing during pre-season but in the end the important thing it’s the institutions that we represent.
“It’s not going to be a game between two persons, it’s a game between Sekhukhune United and Durban City and we it will be an entertaining one.”
