Former Kaizer Chiefs winger Junior Khanye has praised Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi, saying he is doing a good job and it’s evident in the players’ change in mind-set and players like Mfundo Vilakazi.
Nabi’s Chiefs currently sit at the top of the Betway Premiership log after a 2-1 win in the opening round of fixtures having come from a goal down to defeat Marumo Gallants at a packed Free State stadium this past weekend.
The sweetness of the victory is that it was delivered by a player that has received a lot of criticism for showboating – Mfundo Vilakazi, who came off the bench to score the winner in the 80th minute.
The former Amakhosi winger says the way the side managed to come back and how they fought for one another, shows a positive change.
“The mind-set of Kaizer Chiefs players has changed,” Khanye said on iDiski TV.
“That I have noticed. Their mind-set has changed the team is working which means the whole team is coming to the party. Even if they make a mistake, everybody works for one another. You want to have coachable players.
“If you checked when Mfundo Vilakazi came on you might have thought he’s there to do a trick to get the fans going but he came on and played basic football, good passes and how he was in that position [goal scoring] that needs coaching.
“The boy is talented he just needed proper coaching. So, credit to Nabi for coaching some players. Credit to Kaizer Chiefs, the mind-set of the players to respond the way they did to win the game considering that Marumo Gallants scored first.”
